Trump’s ‘America first’ vow sparks fears for Africa initiatives

February 7, 2017, Financial Times

Witney Schneidman is quoted in a Financial Times article regarding how President Trump may affect Washington’s Africa policy. Schneidman, who is hopeful that President Trump can be persuaded that what is good for Africa is good for America, says, “The key question is how will Africa help America be great again? How does Africa fit into this?” He adds that even if Trump remained unconvinced, “there is a legal architecture in place [underpinning the programmes] that’s been there for three administrations, which will not be easy to dismantle.”
