Despite the sweet talk, gains of China trip unclear

November 10, 2017, The Washington Post

Timothy Stratford is quoted by The Washington Post in an article regarding the impact of President Trump's trip to China. According to Stratford, "We haven't yet had the bandwidth in the U.S. Administration or the time to have detailed conversations with the Chinese side on market access and other systemic issues." He adds, "Unless you've had time to discuss these very difficult and complicated issues in some detail, you can't expect the two presidents to announce anything that is concrete and detailed and meaningful. I fully expect these very tough discussions to begin in the next few months."
