Covington & Burling Announces New Counsel

May 8, 2002 - WASHINGTON, NEW YORK, LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO - Covington & Burling has promoted seven attorneys to counsel positions effective April 1, 2002. The new counsel are Dennis B. Auerbach, Wendy L. Feng, Marie A. Lavalleye, John B. Maclay, Lucinda Osborne, Lisa Peets and Elaine W. Stone.

  • Mr. Auerbach is Of Counsel in the Washington office. His practice focuses on insolvency matters and bankruptcy-related litigation. He also has extensive experience litigating healthcare, insurance coverage, and complex commercial cases.


  • Ms. Feng is Special Counsel in the San Francisco office. Her practice is primarily in the area of insurance coverage counseling, negotiation and litigation. She also has represented clients in connection with environmental and intellectual property matters, including software anti-piracy litigation against companies operating over the Internet.


  • Ms. Lavalleye is Special Counsel in the Washington office where she focuses on trademark law, including trademark prosecution and advice, trademark licensing, trademark litigation before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and arbitration of Internet domain name disputes. She also advises clients with respect to copyright, right of publicity, and misleading advertising issues.


  • Mr. Maclay is Of Counsel in the New York office. His practice includes a wide range of corporate transactional work, including structured finance and credit enhanced transactions, securitizations, banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments. He has also assisted start-up companies in structuring equity incentive programs, protecting intellectual property and raising capital.


  • Ms. Osborne is Of Counsel in London's corporate practice group where she concentrates on corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and commercial contracts. She also advises clients with respect to U.S. and European competition laws and is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.


  • Ms. Peets is Special Counsel in the London office and practices in the areas of intellectual property and information technology. She focuses in particular on the enforcement of copyright laws throughout Europe against counterfeiters of computer software.


  • Ms. Stone is Of Counsel in the Washington office. She specializes in white-collar criminal and complex civil litigation. She advises individuals and corporations facing potential criminal charges and represents them in court and before regulatory agencies in environmental, securities and tax cases.
