Leading Antitrust Litigator Anita Stork Joins Covington As Partner

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 1, 2006   Covington & Burling LLP announced that Anita Stork will join the firm as a partner in the Litigation and Antitrust and Consumer Law practice groups.  She will be resident in the firm’s San Francisco office.

Ms. Stork’s practice focuses on antitrust litigation and counseling.  She has experience advising clients on issues such as distribution, strategic alliances, pricing, intellectual property licensing, and merger compliance.  She has handled matters related to the federal Sherman and Robinson-Patman Acts, California’s Cartwright Act, and other state antitrust and unfair competition regulations.  Ms. Stork serves on the Executive Committee of the California State Bar Section on Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law and currently is the vice-chair of programs.

"We are thrilled to have Anita join Covington," said Sonya Winner, co-chair of the firm's litigation group.  "She is a first-rate lawyer and will be an invaluable addition to our litigation practice."

“Anita has a great depth of knowledge and experience in dealing with antitrust matters,” said James Atwood, co-chair of the Covington’s antitrust group.  “We are excited to have her join the firm.”

Ms. Stork stated, "Covington's culture, as well as the firm's base of international and national clients, many of whom are in the Fortune 500, make the firm a natural for my antitrust practice. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with Covington's many talented lawyers.”

Ms. Stork is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law (J.D., 1989) and the University of Nebraska (B.A., Phi Beta Kappa).  Prior to joining Covington, she was a partner at Cooley Godward LLP in San Francisco.  Covington’s lawyers in San Francisco focus on a variety of Bay Area, West Coast, National, and Pacific Rim matters, including litigation, intellectual property counseling, corporate transactions, and antitrust litigation and advice.
