Covington Announces Nine New Counsel


WASHINGTON, DC, April 3, 2008 — Covington & Burling LLP has announced the promotion of four new of counsels and five new special counsels in the firm’s five offices.

The new of counsels are as follows:

  • Christopher Denig (Washington) focuses on representing clients in complex federal civil litigation (including class actions), internal corporate investigations, government investigations, congressional investigations, issues involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and compliance matters.
  • David Jolley (San Francisco) practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation and intellectual property, with an emphasis on defending claims brought under California’s unfair competition law.
  • Genevieve Michaux (Brussels) specializes in European and French food and drug law, with particular emphasis on pharmaceuticals and food supplements.
  • Candido Garcia Molyneux (Brussels) focuses on environmental law, Spanish food and drug law, and international trade law. 

The new special counsels are as follows:

  • Les Carnegie (Washington) advises clients on compliance with US export controls, trade and economic sanctions, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, a variety of US immigration law issues, and cross-border disputes involving international arbitration.
  • Jason Criss (New York) focuses on media law, white collar criminal defense matters, and internal investigations.
  • Andrew Muratore (New York) focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities, finance, and general corporate matters.
  • Meera Shah (London) specializes in investment funds with a particular focus on international private equity funds, and advises sponsors, investors and carried interest executives.
  • Eric Sonnenschein (Washington) focuses primarily on employee benefits and intellectual property litigation.
