Covington Boosts London IP Practice With Arrival of Morag Peberdy

LONDON, February 23, 2009 — Covington & Burling LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of Morag Peberdy, who joins the London office as of counsel in the IP Group.

Ms. Peberdy’s practice covers all aspects of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including licensing, M&A, and litigation. Her broad experience extends to all forms of intellectual property rights, with a particular focus on patent work in the life sciences sector. Ms. Peberdy also advises clients in the technology, sports, and fashion industries. In 2002, she was awarded Higher Rights of Audience by the Supreme Court of England and Wales, entitling her to act as an advocate.

Lisa Peets, head of the European IP and IT Group, commented:  “We are delighted to welcome Morag on board and feel that her arrival will be of great benefit to our clients in a wide range of industries, including life sciences, technology, sports, and branded goods. Her experience in advising on non-contentious IP matters, as well as an impressive track record in fighting the clients’ corner when it comes to contentious issues, are a perfect strategic fit for Covington in Europe.”

Ms. Peberdy added:  “Covington attracted me for a number of reasons. Among them are the firm’s interdisciplinary preeminence in the life sciences industry, its impressive array of experts in complementary areas, such as sports and technology, and its great client base.”

Covington’s life sciences practice is widely recognized for its excellence. In 2008, for the third consecutive year, the firm was awarded worldwide first place rankings in life sciences by the Practical Law Company. The firm’s EU intellectual property practice has also been singled out for recognition, having recently been nominated for Managing Intellectual Property’s 2009 “US Law Firm in Europe” award.
