September 15, 2011

WASHINGTON, DC, September 15, 2011Working Mother magazine named Covington & Burling LLP to its list of the nation’s “100 Best Companies” for the sixth straight year. Covington is one of only four law firms on the list, which is mainly comprised of major public companies.

Working Mother’s “100 Best Companies” list recognizes the nation’s top companies for family friendly benefits. Companies are selected based on an extensive review of data by the staff of Working Mother. Eight areas are measured and scored: workforce profile, benefits, women’s issues and advancement, child care, flexible work, paid time off and leaves, company culture and work/life programs.

“We are very pleased again to be on Working Mother’s ‘100 Best Companies’ list,” said Timothy Hester, chair of Covington’s management committee. “We are committed to meeting the needs of our lawyers and staff through our benefits program and practical work/life initiatives. To ensure we provide Covington employees with a workplace culture that best meets their needs, we continually assess and adjust our programs to assure they are effective.”

Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media commented: “I am pleased to welcome Covington & Burling back to Working Mother’s '100 Best Companies' list for the sixth consecutive year. We continue to be impressed by their alternative work schedule program that offers women the opportunity to accommodate their personal responsibilities without falling behind.”
