Covington Announces Six New Counsel

WASHINGTON, DC, April 16, 2012 — Covington & Burling is pleased to announce the promotion of one lawyer to of counsel and five lawyers to special counsel, effective April 1, 2012.

Wendy Feng (San Francisco), the new of counsel, represents policyholders in insurance coverage cases in state and federal courts. She provides strategic claims-related advice and has obtained insurance recoveries under a broad range of policy forms, including errors and omissions, media special perils, directors and officers liability, and commercial general liability policies.

The new special counsel are as follows:

Uma Everett (Washington) is a member in Covington’s litigation and intellectual property groups, specializing in patent and commercial litigation. She has litigated a variety of patent infringement cases involving a variety of technologies and has extensive experience representing pioneer pharmaceutical companies in Hatch-Waxman patent litigation covering a wide array of drugs and drug formulations. Ms. Everett also has significant experience with government and internal investigations.

Sarah Hoagland (Washington) is a member of the firm’s corporate and life sciences practice groups. Her practice focuses on transactions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including licensing and collaboration arrangements, acquisitions and divestitures of pharmaceutical companies and products, co-promotion arrangements, and supply and distribution transactions.

Andrew Hyman (New York) focuses his practice on corporate finance. His experience includes a wide range of domestic and cross-border financing activities, including acquisition finance, secured and unsecured syndicated credit facilities, investment-grade and high yield offerings, structured finance, securitization programs, and patent royalty monetizations.

Jessica Parezo (Washington) practices in the areas of strategic patent counseling and prosecution, patent litigation, and due diligence. She has extensive experience in procuring patents and counsels clients on patent matters in various technology areas, including new chemical entities, small molecule and biologic pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Ms. Parezo also has significant experience in patent reexamination proceedings. Her practice further includes representing pioneer pharmaceutical companies in Hatch-Waxman litigations and conducting patent due diligence investigations in transactions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Scott Roades (Washington) practices in Covington’s corporate group, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, sports transactions, finance, private equity, and general corporate advice. His M&A experience includes public and private acquisitions and divestitures, acquisitions and sales of professional sports teams, investment transactions, and joint ventures. Mr. Roades also has significant experience in negotiating and structuring debt and equity financings.
