Covington Lawyers Receive Burton Award for Legal Achievement

May 14, 2012

WASHINGTON, DC, May 14, 2012 — Covington & Burling partners Richard Shea and Robert Newman and associate Katherine Mineka have been named recipients of the “2012 Burton Awards for Legal Achievement.” Their article, “Hybrid Plans at the Crossroads,” won in the legal writing for law firms category. The article, which was originally published in BNA Pensions & Benefits Daily on June 3, 2011, is available here.

The Burton Awards are presented annually to lawyers who have written “outstanding articles which are clear, concise, and comprehensive.” Burton judges select 35 authors from the nation’s 1,000 largest law firms.

Mr. Shea, Mr. Newman and Ms. Mineka are members of Covington’s employee benefits and executive compensation group, one of the nation’s leading employee benefits practices. This is the second consecutive year in which Covington lawyers have won the Burton Award.

Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens will be the guest speaker at the awards ceremony to be held on June 11, 2012 at the Library of Congress.
