Covington Named ‘Life Sciences Group of the Year’

WASHINGTON, DC, January 22, 2013Law360 named Covington’s life sciences practice as of one of the top five “Life Sciences Practice Groups of the Year.”

In a profile highlighting Covington’s life sciences practice, Law360 noted that the group has “grown to develop an increasingly global reach that has made it a go-to for complex transactions, high stakes litigation and other matters involving life sciences companies around the world.” One of the largest and most comprehensive life sciences practices in the world, the group is comprised of more than 250 lawyers spanning three continents.

“Over the years we have continuously grown along with the needs of the industry to provide the highest level of service, whether it’s for biotech, pharmaceuticals, medtech, veterinary or other life sciences businesses,” said John Hurvitz, a co-chair of Covington’s life sciences practice group. “Our approach, though, is not simply to provide one-stop shopping, but to deliver services by lawyers who understand the industry and the range of business and legal challenges our clients face. Our clients’ challenges and opportunities typically do not fall into a distinct legal discipline and it is this multidisciplinary approach that truly sets us apart.”

After reviewing more than 550 submissions, a committee of Law360 editors selected five winners for each practice area. Law firms were selected based on the significance, size and complexity of the matters they handled for clients over the past year.
