Covington’s Razi and Zern Named ’Rising Stars’

WASHINGTON, DC, April 22, 2013 — Covington & Burling partners Benjamin Razi and Peter Zern have been selected as “Rising Stars” by Law360. The online legal publication recognized lawyers “under the age of 40 who are already making a name for themselves in their practice areas.”

In a profile, the publication noted Mr. Razi’s white collar work, as well as his active commercial litigation and trial practice. “Benjamin Razi has expertly guided the former CEO of IndyMac Bancorp Inc. through a gauntlet of investigations and litigation over the mortgage lender’s collapse, and relishes any chance to turn the tables on overzealous prosecutors and regulators, earning this Covington & Burling LLP partner a spot among five young white collar attorneys recognized by Law360.”

The Law360 profile highlights Mr. Zern’s track record of working on high-value deals involving some of the biggest names in professional sports. “Peter Zern played a role in the sales of the New Orleans Hornets, Golden State Warriors, San Diego Padres and Miami Dolphins and counts nearly every major U.S. professional sports league as a client, making him an easy pick for Law360’s list of four outstanding media and entertainment lawyers under 40.”
