Toro and Winner Named Top Women Lawyers in California


SAN FRANCISCO, May 9, 2013 — Covington & Burling partners Amy Toro and Sonya Winner have been named to the Daily Journal’s annual list of “Top Women Lawyers” in California. The list, which includes 75 litigators and 25 corporate practitioners, recognizes “excellent lawyering and leadership skills among women attorneys.”

Ms. Toro was recognized for her work representing some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in a number of high-profile deals. Ms. Toro specializes in technology transactions, with a particular emphasis on life science arrangements, including collaboration and license agreements.

Ms. Winner was recognized for her work representing financial institutions and other clients in antitrust and consumer disputes. A litigator with three decades of experience, Ms. Winner was a founding partner of Covington’s San Francisco office and is chair of the firm’s Consumer and Class Action Litigation practice group.
