Covington Advises Governance for Owners in Partnership with Engaged Capital

WASHINGTON, DC, July 10, 2013 — Covington & Burling advised Governance for Owners (GO) in the formation of a new, global partnership with Engaged Capital (EC) in the activist investing arena. In addition to sharing marketing efforts, EC and GO plan to collaborate to launch a global constructive activist strategy.

Based in Newport Beach, Calif., EC invests in North American companies. GO, based in London, invests in both European and Japanese equities and has additional capabilities in South East Asia and Australia. GO will be responsible for marketing EC’s funds outside of North America as well as marketing the global activist strategy when launched.

Covington provided U.S. advice, including on regulatory aspects, on the contracts between GO and EC. The team included partners David Martin, Kristian Wiggert and Kerry Burke.
