October 14, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC, October 14, 2013 — Covington & Burling partners Bruce Baird and David Bayless were named to Securities Docket’s inaugural “Enforcement 40,” the publication’s list of the “40 best and brightest securities enforcement defense lawyers in the business.”

The names were announced at the conclusion of this year’s Securities Enforcement Forum, held October 9, 2013 in Washington, D.C. and keynoted by SEC Chair Mary Jo White.

The publication described Mr. Baird as being “recognized by his peers as among ‘the best of the best,’” and Bayless as “a dean of the West Coast securities enforcement bar.”

Mr. Baird is the co-chair of Covington's White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice Group. His experience includes nine years as an Assistant United States Attorney in Manhattan, where he was Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division and Chief of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force.

Mr. Bayless is co-chair of Covington’s Securities & Commercial Litigation practice group and co-chair of its Securities Enforcement practice group. For five years, Mr. Bayless was the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s San Francisco office.
