August 5, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC, August 5, 2014 — Covington & Burling’s Lanny Breuer, a partner and vice chairman of the firm, has been named to the National Law Journal’s inaugural list of 50 Governance Risk & Compliance Trailblazers & Pioneers. The list recognizes people who have “moved the needle” in the changing ways that law firms conduct business towards governance, risk and compliance.

Mr. Breuer is recognized for his previous role as Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. The NLJ noted he focused on “taking the FCPA to a whole new level by bringing cases in the U.S., expanding the unit and going around the world to speak about corruption.” The publication also recognized Mr. Breuer’s efforts in creating the FCPA Resource Guide in collaboration with the SEC and in launching the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative.

In addition, Mr. Breuer was also named a “Top Gun” in Ethisphere Institute’s annual list of Attorneys Who Matter. This award showcases individuals representing the best and brightest in the legal field and is based on recognized expertise, peer/client endorsements, high-profile litigation, number of cases won, high-profile clients, public service, legal community engagement, academic involvement, and other awards and recognitions.
