February 21, 2018

NEW YORKDavid Luttinger has joined Covington as a partner in the firm’s Insurance Recovery practice in New York.

Mr. Luttinger has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in the insurance coverage field, including extensive trial work in judicial and arbitral forums across the country. His experience in the coverage area includes disputes over insurance for mass torts, environmental liabilities, large-scale property and business interruption losses, and shareholder lawsuits. He has represented clients in the energy, chemical, manufacturing, retail, and financial services sectors.

“We are delighted to welcome Dave to the firm’s growing Insurance Recovery practice in New York,” said Mitchell Dolin, co-chair of Covington’s global Insurance Recovery Practice Group. “We were drawn to his superb national reputation as a trial lawyer in the coverage field and to his strengths as an individual and colleague.”

“I look forward to joining Covington and working to expand the New York office’s footprint in the coverage area,” said Mr. Luttinger. “I was drawn to the firm’s international reputation in this field and to its litigation practice more generally, as well as to the opportunity to represent clients with colleagues well known for both excellence and a collegial and collaborative approach to practice.”

Mr. Luttinger graduated from Fordham University School of Law and received his undergraduate degree at The College of the Holy Cross. Before his career in private practice, he spent five years as an Assistant District Attorney in the trial division of the New York County District Attorney’s office.

Covington’s insurance recovery practice is the only such practice dedicated to representing policyholders that is rated in Chambers USA as “Band 1” nationally and is the current holder of the Chambers USA “Award for Excellence in Insurance.” The firm has more than 100 insurance practitioners in London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington.
