April 12, 2018

SILICON VALLEYSuzanne Bell has joined Covington as a partner in its Technology Transactions practice in the Silicon Valley office.

Ms. Bell advises technology companies, as well as companies in traditional industries that are embracing technology, in a range of intellectual property, licensing and contract matters. Her work includes strategic partnering arrangements, product counseling and business model structuring, and intellectual property issues in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate venture capital transactions. Ms. Bell focuses on emerging areas of technology, including artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, fintech, digital health, autonomous vehicles, and the Internet of Things. She has experience advising both growth and mature companies.

“Suzanne’s deep understanding of what drives technology companies in Silicon Valley and beyond will be a tremendous asset as we continue to build our transactional capabilities,” said Tom DeFilipps, the West Coast chair of Covington’s Corporate practice. “Her experience advising many of Silicon Valley’s leading technology companies over two decades in their most strategically important matters will be a valuable resource to our clients, both existing and new.”

“I look forward to joining Covington and working to build the firm’s technology-based practice,” said Ms. Bell. “The firm’s collaborative approach will allow me to work hand-in-hand with lawyers across the firm’s various offices and practices, and I am excited for the opportunities ahead at Covington to work with both traditional tech companies and companies applying new technologies in their businesses.”

Ms. Bell graduated from Stanford Law School and received her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Bell worked as an engineer, and she holds a master’s degree in engineering from Columbia University.
