Covington Named to GCR's Global Elite

January 23, 2020

WASHINGTONGlobal Competition Review has once again named Covington to its 2019 "Global Elite," a list of the top 25 firms practicing competition law internationally, as well as including the firm in the list of top ten antitrust litigation practices globally.

Now in its 20th year, GCR100 undertakes extensive analysis of antitrust and competition law groups in 50 jurisdictions around the world. Covington climbed three spots to seventeenth place in this year’s ranking, spurred by the firm’s strong year of private litigation in the U.S. and Europe, and the addition of senior lawyers Terrell McSweeny and Horst Henschen to its Washington and Frankfurt offices.

In describing Covington’s practice, GCR says, “The firm is capable of any type of work in any industry, and has strength across the board” while the firm “has a particular expertise in technology and life sciences.” GCR notes that Covington is a firm that competitors “cannot seem to praise enough.”

The research highlighted Covington’s work for JPMorgan in many of the financial services cases as well as the Aluminum Warehousing antitrust litigation, the firm’s defense of the National Football League against antitrust claims over the Oakland Raiders’ relocation to Las Vegas, and the team’s obtaining clearance for a number of significant transactions.

Covington’s Antitrust & Competition practice group regularly guides clients through the complex web of antitrust and competition laws to help them secure their most important business objectives by providing regulatory insight, litigation and investigation representation, and transactional support.
