NEW YORK—Latinvex has named Covington lawyers Nicole Duclos, Rubén Kraiem, Miguel López Forastier, and Gabriel Mesa among its list of Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers.

Ms. Duclos represents clients in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as transnational litigation.  According to the publication, “Nicole Duclos is a skilled practitioner who benefits from considerable experience acting on commercial disputes throughout the region ... Her abilities in the arbitration field have earned her high praise, with one commentator asserting: ‘She is very thorough in her analysis and also pays attention to the details of the case without losing sight of the big picture’.”  This is the fifth year Ms. Duclos has been named to the list.

Mr. Kraiem advises clients with business interests in Latin America, as well as companies based in Latin America who are engaged in cross-border acquisitions or financings. Mr. Kraiem has been involved in many significant life sciences, banking and insurance-related acquisitions and joint ventures in Latin America, as well as transactions in industries as diverse as telecommunications, media, real estate development, healthcare, and consumer products.  This is the second year Mr. Kraiem has been named to the list.

Mr. López Forastier’s practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation. He has successfully represented a wide range of clients, including those in the oil and gas, mining, communications, financial services, and food industries in both investor-State and commercial arbitrations. Both civil-law and common-law trained, Mr. López Forastier handles contentious work in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.  The publication quotes one client saying:  “He is great at listening to the client, as well as digesting the information and giving it to you in plain English, which is a great help in highly technical matters.”

Mr. Mesa advises companies on corporate transactions, including joint ventures, private mergers and acquisitions, financings and restructurings in Latin America and other emerging markets as well as in the United States. His work spans venture capital and private equity investments, strategic acquisitions, privatizations and oil and gas ventures.
