Kate Cahoy specializes in defending clients in complex, high-stakes disputes including class action and antitrust cases. - Represented national bank in putative class action in the Northern District of California involving privacy laws regarding data collection and advertising.
- Represent national bank in putative consumer class actions concerning the bank’s mortgage servicing practices in the Northern and Central Districts of California and elsewhere.
- Represented animated film studios in antitrust class actions in the Northern District of California alleging agreements among companies not to “cold call” each other’s employees.
- Represented video streaming service in putative class action in the Northern District of California alleging violations of federal privacy law.
Pro Bono
- Argued the first ever successful petition for class certification before the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims on behalf of a class of veterans seeking mandamus relief for unreasonable delays in the VA appeals process.
- Drafted amicus brief on behalf of veterans organization supporting petition for certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court in case involving the Feres doctrine.
- Advised legal aid organization on developing promissory estoppel claims against county that led to favorable settlement for the organization’s client without the need for litigation.
- Advise military veterans on VA benefits issues at local non-profit clinic.
