Matthew Kudzin is special counsel in the Washington, DC office. He is a member of the Litigation and Intellectual Property practice groups. Before joining the firm, Mr. Kudzin was a research fellow in the Mathematics Department of SUNY Stony Brook, where his work focused on the geometry and topology of spaces with large symmetry groups.

  • Represented Hewlett-Packard in patent litigation related to computer networking devices. Nomadix, Inc. v. Hewlett-Packard Company, et al., No. 09-cv-8441 (C.D. Cal.).
  • Represented Out RAGE in patent, trademark, and false advertising litigation related to bowhunting equipment. Out RAGE, LLC v. New Archery Products Corp., No. 3:11-cv-701-BBC (W.D. Wisc.).
  • Represented comScore in two patent infringement cases involving technology related to media measurement and analytics. comScore, Inc. v. The Nielsen Company (US), LLC, et al., No. 1:11-cv-290-LMB-TRJ (E.D. Va.) and The Nielsen Company v. comScore, Inc., No. 2:11-cv-00168-MSD-TEM (E.D. Va.).

Patent Office Trials

  • Representing Eli Lilly and Company as petitioner in an IPR proceeding challenging the validity of a patent owned by the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. The PTAB instituted trial on all challenged claims.
  • Representing of Huawei as petitioner in four inter partes review proceedings on data transfer interface technologies. 

ITC Section 337 Matters

  • Representing Samsung in patent infringement case related to noise cancellation technology. In re Certain Audio Processing Hardware, Software, and Products Containing the Same, Inv. No. 337-TA-1026.
  • Represented Samsung and other respondents in patent infringement trial related to flash memory chips. In re Certain MLC Flash Memory Devices and Products Containing Same, Inv. No. 337-TA-683.

Pro Bono

  • Representing a California state prisoner in the appeal of his federal habeas petition before the Ninth Circuit.
  • Represented DC prisoners in their parole hearings before the United States Parole Commission.
