Magnus Rodrigues advises lenders, sponsors and others across a broad range of energy and infrastructure sectors. He has substantial experience working on project financings, M&A transactions, and other financings in the energy and infrastructure sectors in 70 countries, predominantly UK and the rest of Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa and other emerging/developed markets. Within the energy and infrastructure sectors, Mr. Rodrigues has experience in gas/coal, renewable and other power projects, infrastructure projects, oil and gas, and other natural resources projects.

  • Qurayyat IWP, Oman. Advising the lenders to the successful consortium in respect of the Qurayyat IWP in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • Port Qasim Power Project, Pakistan. Advising the sponsors in connection with the 1,320MW coal-fired power project at Port Qasim, Sindh, Pakistan. This project is the first project in U.S. $40 billion of projects that the Chinese have agreed to develop in Pakistan.
  • Az-Zour North IWPP Project, Kuwait. Advising the procuring governmental authority on the Az-Zour North IWPP project. This project is Kuwait’s first IWPP project undertaken under its PPP framework. 2013 Middle East Power Deal of the Year by Project Finance International and 2013 Middle East PPP Deal of the Year by Project Finance magazine
  • U.S. $814 million High Yield Bond, Saudi Arabia. Advising the issuer in connection with the structuring and documentation of a U.S. $814 million high yield bond principally secured over ownership interests in a substantial portfolio of Saudi water and power projects.
  • Crossrail financing, UK. Advised the lender on £500 million financing for rail rolling stock and associated facilities financing for the Crossrail project. The Crossrail project in the UK is currently the largest (rail as well as) infrastructure project in Europe.
  • 14 Regional Airports Privatisation, Greece. Advised the lenders on the financing of the €1.23 billion privatization and development of 14 regionals airports in Greece.
  • Mersin PPP, Turkey. Advised the sponsors in respect of the development of the Mersin Integrated Health Campus PPP in Mersin, Turkey.
  • Vodafone financing, UK. Advised the lender in relation to its US$750 million facility for Vodafone Group.
  • Tafila, Jordan. Advised the lenders in relation to the €170 million financing of the Tafila Wind Farm Project in Jordan. Tafila is the first large scale wind farm development in Jordan, with a total installed capacity of 117MW. 2013 Middle East Renewable Deal of the Year, Project Finance magazine.
  • Master Wind Farm Project, Pakistan. Advised the lenders in respect of the financing of the 50MW Master Wind power project in Pakistan.
  • Jhimpir Wind Farm Project, Pakistan. Advised the lender in respect of the financing of the 50MW Jhimpir wind power project in Pakistan.
  • Welspun Rajasthan Wind Farm Project, India. Advised an international lender on its potential participation in the U.S. $125 million Welspun Rajasthan 126MW wind farm project in India.
  • DEWA Phase II 100MW Solar Park, United Arab Emirates. Advised the lenders to one of the consortia in respect of its bid for the development and financing of the DEWA Phase II 100 MW solar wind park in the United Arab Emirates
  • Khanyisa Power Project, South Africa. Advising the project company in the development and financing of a 300MW coal-fired power project in the Republic of South Africa
  • Bankers Petroleum, Albania. Advised the lenders on a reserved based financing for Bankers Petroleum in respect of its upstream oil fields in Albania.
