Andrew Stanner leverages his prior government experience to represent clients facing complex litigation, investigations, and enforcement matters. A seasoned trial lawyer, he has tried more than two dozen cases before judges and juries.
Mr. Stanner currently serves as co-lead counsel for a major corporation in the sprawling opioids litigation. In this role and others, he has led trial efforts, defended clients in mass tort and consumer protection lawsuits and investigations, and prepared numerous senior executives and government officials for testimony in litigation and before Congress and other investigative agencies.
Prior to joining Covington, Mr. Stanner was appointed by the White House to serve as the Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management in the wake of two high profile data breaches affecting critical government information systems. He advised the Director and other senior administration officials on internal and congressional investigations, class action defense, regulatory affairs, compliance matters, and crisis communications. He was previously Senior Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice, and before that he served as a senior trial attorney at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.
