  • Represents a group of hospitals suing a large insurer that chronically underpays emergency bills.
  • Represents a renewable energy investment group in a dispute with shareholders of a company in which the client is the majority owner.

Pro Bono

  • Representing a class of individuals held in the Orange County Jail. Is part of a team working to improve conditions and free inmates in light of a COVID-19 outbreak at the Jail and general conditions conducive to the spread of the virus.
  • Representing civil immigration detainees held at the ICE Adelanto Detention Center. Is working to free medically vulnerable detainees in light of COVID-19.
  • Represented a legal aid attorney who was falsely accused of malpractice by a wage-stealing business owner whose employees said legal aid attorney represented. All claims against our client were dropped.

Previous Experience

  • Short stories have appeared widely and books include Pool Party Trap Loop, The Wes Letters (as co-author), and The Official Catalog of the Library of Potential Literature (as co-editor).
  • Taught writing for nearly 10 years at both the high school and college level.
  • Surfrider Foundation ‘Wavemaker’ Award for distinguished legal service (as member of the Abrams Environmental Law Clinic team representing Surfrider in litigation against a major polluter in Lake Michigan)
