Patricia Snell is an associate in Covington’s International Arbitration Practice Group. Ms. Snell's practice covers a broad range of contentious matters, including international commercial arbitration and investor-state disputes. She has advised and acted for clients in complex international disputes under many of the major institutional rules including ICC, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA, DIAC, ICSID, and ad hoc proceedings under the UNCITRAL Rules across a variety of seats. She has significant international experience having previously worked in international arbitration in the Paris and Dubai offices of another international law firm. She advises clients across numerous sectors, including energy and infrastructure, life sciences, media, technology, consumer products, and financial services.

  • Represented a global energy company in a multi-billion dollar claim in a Perth-seated UNCITRAL arbitration concerning an offshore LNG project.
  • Represented an African state entity in an ICSID investor-state dispute concerning the expropriation of licences for a geothermal project.
  • Represented a Cayman entity in a DIFC-LCIA commercial arbitration in relation to investments in the UAE food and retail sector.
  • Represented a Middle Eastern transportation and logistics entity in a DIFC-LCIA commercial arbitration and in a related anti-suit injunction in the DIFC Courts.
  • Represented a UAE-based real estate developer in a DIAC commercial dispute concerning breach of a development agreement.
  • Representing a European energy entity in a South Africa-seated ad hoc arbitration under the UNCITRAL Rules concerning a petroleum products supply agreement.

  • Advising undocumented minors on UK immigration matters on behalf of client, Kids in Need of Defense.
  • Represented a London-based NGO in a transnational employment dispute.
  • Represented human rights abuse victims on behalf of a London-based NGO in preparing applications to the African Commission.
  • Assisted a New York-based NGO with drafting an aid for negotiations at the UN Conference on Marine Biodiversity on Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction.
